Grandpa and Grandma's Love Story

I wanted to start my journey to him by sharing my grandparents love story. I think it's the most adorable story I ever heard in this lifetime. Their love story started in Davao City. For my grandfather it's a love at first sight, for grandmother it's a shotgun romance :) They were neighbor and when grandpa heard that there's a new girl in town he got excited. He's a carpenter, she's a rich man daughter but this fact didn't stop him from liking her. Everyday he watch her from afar and his feelings grow deeper. A lot of  rich guys were courting her but this doesn't stop him from liking her. His plan of pursuing her started during one of the singing contest they both attended. He sat beside her  and said their hi's and hello's and when it's time for her to sing, she can't fully stand because he's sitting on her skirt. She looked at him with annoyed face. (Imagine the scenario where the host is calling your name to come to stage and everybody is looking at you and you are still there half standing and half sitting because someone is on your skirt. lol)

In a quick sentence, grandpa said his intention
"I want you to be my girl and I wont let your skirt go unless you said yes."

Grandma looked at him very confused. (lol) To make the long story short, after the contest she became his girl and that's the start of their long journey together. It was not easy though. Grandma has to give up her luxurious life when my great grandpa ask her to leave their house because she insist of marrying him.  I once ask grandma if she was really sincere when she said yes to grandpa that night. She gave me a warm smile and said Yes.

She said "I have been praying for something like him to come into my life. It's though looked like a shotgun romance but it's something that I am thankful for "

He said "The moment I laid my eyes on her I felt something in my heart, circumstances were not cooperating but I can't just ignore my feelings. All I have back then was a little penny in my pocket and a lot of faith in my love for her."

Now that I think about it, It was just like a story from a movie but they are real people. They both felt the excitement, the joy, the pain, and much more for the sake of loving each other. Though they are gone right now but their story will always be remembered. How they work hard to make things work and how they make their love stronger as time goes by.  My grandma always remind me to include my future husband in my prayer. To honor him while I am living  away from him. To patiently wait for him.

It reminds me of Song of Solomon 8: 4 " Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires".
